The Dearest Friend I Ever Had

Back in the 70s my Uncle Roy Wilson was a gospel singer.

When I heard him sing long, long ago, it moved me to tears

sometimes (in a good way). Roy has gone on to be with Jesus

decades ago but his nephew, (me), is still singing the songs I

heard him sing long ago. Here's a song I sang in our house

church this past summer. It was such a blessing to have it

come back to my mind so vividly that I could share it and

praise my God in a simple but deep way.

The Dearest Friend I Ever Had

When I was drifting out in sin

I had no peace, no joy within

But Jesus came and made me glad

The dearest friend I ever had

He saved my soul; oh, bless His name

I'll never forget the day He came

He makes me glad when I am sad

The dearest friend I ever had

O sinner come to Jesus now

And at His feet just humbly bow

He'll save your soul and make you glad

The dearest friend you'll ever have

He saved my soul; oh, bless His name

I'll never forget the day He came

He makes me glad when I am sad

The dearest friend I ever had
